{"id":1008,"date":"2025-11-26T09:36:07","date_gmt":"2025-11-26T09:36:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.cis.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=1008"},"modified":"2025-11-26T09:36:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-26T09:36:07","slug":"center-for-strategic-and-international-studies-university-of-baghdad-engages-in-international-symposium-on-childrens-literature-in-the-ai-era","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.cis.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=1008","title":{"rendered":"Center for Strategic and International Studies \u2013 University of Baghdad Engages in International Symposium on Children\u2019s Literature in the AI Era"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>The Center for Strategic and International Studies at the University of Baghdad participated in the specialized international symposium entitled \u201cFeatures of Children\u2019s Literature Language in the Era of Superintelligent AI\u201d, organized by Bayt Al-Hikma \u2013 Department of Linguistic and Translation Studies, in collaboration with the ALECSO Chair for Childhood Services \u2013 Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science (ALECSO), on Sunday, November 2, 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>The event was held in person at the Dr. Mahmoud Ali Al-Dawood Hall in Bayt Al-Hikma and broadcast virtually via Zoom.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>The Center was represented by Senior Translator Sameera Ibrahim Abdul Rahman, who presented her research paper titled \u201cTranslating Children\u2019s Literature into Arabic: Issues and Challenges in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.\u201d In her paper, she highlighted the<\/strong> <strong>importance of translating children\u2019s literature as a nuanced field intersecting linguistic, cultural, educational, and psychological dimensions. She emphasized that translating texts for children is not merely a linguistic transfer but a cultural construction that contributes to shaping the awareness and values of young readers.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Abdul Rahman noted that translators in this field face multiple challenges related to cultural and emotional differences, as well as the rapid technological changes brought about by the age of artificial intelligence. She also highlighted strategies employed by human translators to ensure that literary texts reach Arab children accurately and meaningfully, stressing how AI can serve as a supportive tool without replacing human sensitivity in literary translation.
