{"id":1194,"date":"2026-04-06T06:01:33","date_gmt":"2026-04-06T06:01:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.cis.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=1194"},"modified":"2026-04-06T06:01:33","modified_gmt":"2026-04-06T06:01:33","slug":"the-center-for-strategic-and-international-studies-examines-the-risks-of-school-dropout-in-iraq-and-mechanisms-for-its-mitigation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.cis.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=1194","title":{"rendered":"The Center for Strategic and International Studies Examines the Risks of School Dropout in Iraq and Mechanisms for Its Mitigation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Media and Government Communication Unit<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Within the framework of its academic activities aimed at analyzing social challenges and phenomena affecting Iraqi society, the Center for Strategic and International Studies convened a workshop entitled &#8220;School Dropout in Iraq: Causes and Remedial Measures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The workshop was delivered by researcher Dr. Ahmed Abdul Jabbar Hameed, who highlighted school dropout as both an educational and social challenge that threatens human development trajectories and contributes to rising illiteracy rates.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The researcher noted that the increasing rates of school dropout in Iraq can be attributed to a set of interrelated factors, most notably weakness of educational infrastructure, difficult economic conditions, certain social norms, as well as the repercussions of security instability and the lasting impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The workshop concluded with the development of a structured roadmap and a set of practical measures aimed at reducing this phenomenon, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Legislative Enforcement:<\/strong> Strict activation and enforcement of compulsory education laws.<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Economic Support:<\/strong> Provision of social protection mechanisms and financial assistance to low-income families to ensure the continuity of their children\u2019s education.<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Educational Environment Development:<\/strong> Modernization of curricula and improvement of school infrastructure to create a more engaging and supportive learning environment.<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Shared Responsibility:<\/strong> strengthening the supervisory role of both family and school in monitoring students and encouraging dropouts to return to formal education.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wpa-warning wpa-image-missing-alt size-full wp-image-1197 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/en.cis.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/116\/2026\/04\/\u0645\u062f\u0631\u0633\u064a-2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" data-warning=\"Missing alt text\" \/><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Media and Government Communication Unit Within the framework of its academic activities aimed at analyzing social challenges and phenomena affecting &#8230; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":190,"featured_media":1196,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[4,1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1194","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-latest-news","category-uncategorized"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.8 -
