The Center for Strategic and International Studies is a scientific center affiliated with the University of Baghdad that specializes in strategic and international studies related to the various countries of the world, their systems, issues, policies, and strategic and international relations. It seeks to provide information related to this, organize it, and facilitate its handling, with the aim of developing scientific research and upgrading it so that it becomes one of the tributaries of providing sufficient and accurate information. Researchers, policy makers and decision-makers in our country and other countries contribute to serving scientific research on the one hand and the public interest on the other.<\/p>\n
Establishment
\nThe Center was established in September 1980 under the name \u201cInstitute of Asian and African Studies.\u201d The purpose of its establishment was to gain a comprehensive understanding of the countries of Asia and Africa through the study of the political, economic, social, historical and geographical affairs of the two continents.
\nThe center expanded its missions and became known as the \u201cCenter for Third World Studies\u201d on March 19, 1987. It focused on studying political affairs and international relations for the three continents: Asia – Africa – Latin America. Since that date, it was linked to the College of Political Science – University of Baghdad. Then the center\u2019s scope of interest expanded further. In 1990, it was named the \u201cCenter for International Studies\u201d to be concerned with political affairs and international relations for all continents of the world, and its association with the College of Political Science – University of Baghdad continued until April 1996, to be directly linked to the presidency of the University of Baghdad.
\nThe center became known as the Center for Strategic and International Studies on June 12, 2013, in accordance with the order issued by the University of Baghdad, according to which it was decided to merge the two centers (the Center for International Studies and the Center for Palestinian Studies) into one center.
\nThe Center for Palestinian Studies, which was merged with the Center for International Studies, was established in 1967 and reports directly to the presidency of the University of Baghdad. He was concerned with studying the Palestinian issue and its affairs, keeping up with it, introducing its various aspects, and studying the circles of the Arab-Israeli conflict, its contents, and its regional and international levels. The center was then linked to the College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad in 1986. In March 2002, it became an independent center affiliated with the presidency of the University of Baghdad.<\/p>\n
