Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Baha Ibrahim Insaf<\/strong>, President of the University of Baghdad, and the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Adel Al-Badawi<\/strong>, Director of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, the Department of Strategic Studies held a symposium titled:
\n\u201cThe Implications of Cyber Warfare and the Use of Smart Technologies for International Security and Peace.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The symposium aimed to shed light on the growing threats posed by cyber warfare to the critical infrastructure of nations and to reevaluate concepts of national sovereignty and international security in an era of increasingly frequent and borderless cyberattacks. It also explored how emerging smart technologies can be harnessed to meet future security challenges.<\/p>\n

Five key themes were addressed during the event:<\/p>\n

  1. Legal and political dimensions of cyber warfare<\/strong> and their impact on international security and peace.<\/li>\n
  2. Security implications of cyber warfare<\/strong> at the national, regional, and global levels.<\/li>\n
  3. Global economic repercussions<\/strong> resulting from cyberattacks.<\/li>\n
  4. The role of smart technologies<\/strong> in mitigating future cyber threats.<\/li>\n
  5. International cooperation strategies<\/strong> to balance the use of advanced technologies with the need for sustainable global security.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The symposium focused on achieving several strategic and academic objectives, including:<\/p>\n

    • Identifying major threats targeting critical infrastructure through cyberattacks and their direct impact on global economic, political, and security stability.<\/li>\n
