The Department of Regional and International Policies at the Center for Strategic and International Studies – University of Baghdad held a panel discussion under the title, “The Islamic Movement in Morocco between Rise and Decline” headed by the head of the department, Dr. Mufid Kased Al-Zaidi and a number of researchers.
The research paper presented by Dr. Riyam Abbas Daibel, on the sidelines of the panel discussion, included a discussion of the emergence of the Islamic movement on the Moroccan scene, represented by the Movement for Unification and Reform with its political wing, the Justice and Development Party, a political party with an Islamic reference that was able to rise gradually during the years (1997-2016) to power, but the party declined significantly in the 2021 elections, as it ranked eighth with thirteen seats.
