supervised by AL-Mustansiriya University.
On 19th March 1987, the center was renamed the “Center for Third World Studies”
focusing on political affairs and international relations of Asia, Africa and Latin
America. It was supervised by the college of Political Science at University of
Baghdad.
In 1990, it adopted the name ‘Center for International Studies (CIS)’ and expanded its
scope to cover international politics and relations worldwide.
The CIS separated from the College of Political Science in April 1996, becoming an
independent entity under the supervision of the University of Baghdad.
The Center of Palestinian Studies was established in 1967, initially under the University
of Baghdad’s supervision, with a focus on the Arab-Israeli conflict. In 1986, it transitioned
into a research unit supervised by the College of Political Science. In March 2002, the
Center for Palestinian Studies (CPS) gained independence from the College of Political
Science, operating under the University of Baghdad’s supervision.
