The Center for Strategic and International Studies at the University of Baghdad, through its Translation Unit, has released the first volume of the bibliographical documentary study titled: “The War of Narratives: Western Discourse on Gaza (2023–2025)”. The volume was prepared and translated by Chief Senior Translator Sameera Ibrahim Abdul-Rahman, Head of the Center’s Translation Unit.

This study arrives at a critical juncture, serving as an Arabic-language research reference that provides scholars with a systematic overview of international intellectual production regarding the Palestinian issue in the post-October 7, 2023 era. It aims to monitor and classify global intellectual and cultural output, while analyzing the diverse narrative and interpretive frameworks that attempted to explain the events in Gaza and their repercussions.

The study is structured into three core sections encompassing: books, international reports, and analytical articles.

Reviewing a wide array of publications by international thinkers and scholars, the study employs a dual methodology that integrates bibliographical analysis (documenting publication data and sources) with critical discourse analysis. This approach aims to uncover the ideological and linguistic structures that have shaped Western narratives.

Through this publication, the Center seeks to foster research awareness on issues of conflict and justice. It further aims to support the endeavors of researchers and postgraduate students in the fields of political science, international relations, and media by providing them with an accurate database that facilitates the tracking of international discourses and the understanding of their underlying premises.
