A new book titled An Introduction to the Study of Political Systems has recently been published by Prof. Dr. Sattar Jabbar Allay, a professor of political systems and a researcher at the Center for Strategic and International Studies at the University of Baghdad.

The book addresses the methodological problems confronting the theoretical disciplines, clarifying the interplay between subjective and objective elements in political analysis. It also takes up the idea that scientific status in this field is relative, since private and public, political and social dimensions intersect, which raises questions about whether a purely scientific study of politics is possible.

The book covers several principal themes. The first is an instructional component that introduces the fundamentals and rules of political systems to students new to political science. The second is a historical grounding that highlights the importance of Aristotle’s Politics and the concepts that remain central to questions of science and methodological analysis. The book also examines the overlap between the subjective and the objective, and the limits of absolute objectivity in human thought and political analysis.

Researchers at the Center for Strategic and International Studies at the University of Baghdad regularly publish scholarly articles and studies, in addition to issuing a number of books.
