The Department of Strategic Studies held a scientific discussion panel titled “Digital Diplomacy and Its Impact on the Management of International Relations,” delivered by researcher Assistant Lecturer Duaa Mounim Yassin, with the attendance of a number of researchers and academics.

The D panel addressed the concept of digital diplomacy as a modern instrument employed by states, ministries of foreign affairs, and diplomatic missions through the deployment of digital technologies and tools to achieve foreign policy objectives and to enhance direct engagement with governments and peoples.

It further reviewed the historical emergence and evolution of this concept, along with its principal instruments, namely social media platforms, electronic consular services, and virtual meetings.

The researcher elaborated on the profound impact of digital diplomacy on the management of contemporary international relations, particularly in accelerating communication frameworks, broadening the circle of international actors, and enabling direct engagement with global public opinion. She further addressed its pivotal role in strengthening the soft power of states, highlighting leading international models in this field.

In its conclusion, the discussion panel yielded a set of scholarly recommendations, most notably: the formulation of a national strategy; the development of skills and the qualification of diplomatic personnel in digital communication and crisis management across various platforms; the strengthening of cybersecurity for the official accounts and systems of governmental and diplomatic institutions; and the countering of disinformation through the establishment of specialized units tasked with monitoring misleading information and responding to it with speed and precision.
