M.M. Ali Hadi Abdullah, a researcher at the Center for Strategic and International Studies at the University of Baghdad, participated in the scientific conference organized by the Salahuddin Al-Ayyubi Center for Historical and Civilizational Studies at Tikrit University under the title: “Drug abuse and its general effects on society throughout history and the role of universities in diagnosing the phenomenon and ways to prevent it.”
The researcher presented a research paper entitled: “Educational journalism in Iraq and its developments 1958-1968,” in which he reviewed the development of educational journalism in Iraq during that period, highlighting its role in spreading educational awareness and promoting education as a basic pillar for building society. The researcher referred to the educational publications launched by the Ministry of Education and other entities, such as the “Education and Teaching” magazine, which addressed topics related to developing curricula, improving education, and qualifying teachers, in addition to strengthening free and compulsory education policies.
The role of educational journalism in combating drugs
The researcher also discussed the contribution of educational journalism in confronting negative social phenomena, especially drug abuse. The educational articles focused on educating young people about the dangers of drugs and their negative impact on society, pointing out the importance of education in promoting moral values and increasing community awareness. The press also provided examples and scientific analyses to highlight the seriousness of this phenomenon and the role of educational institutions in confronting it.
