As part of the concluding activities of the Week for Countering Violent Extremism, and in implementation of the directives of University of Baghdad, under the supervision and follow-up of Pro. Dr. Saad Ubaid Alwan, Director of the Center, the Center for Strategic and International Studies hosted a workshop entitled: “Strategies for Countering Violent Extremism: Selected Models.”

The workshop provided an in-depth presentation of selected national experiences, focusing on Iraq, Tunisia, Syria, and Nigeria as countries that have adopted diverse strategies in addressing violent extremism.

Assistant Professor Dr. Badriya Saleh Abdullah, Dr. Enas Mejbel Delyan, and Assistant Lecturer Rasha Fadil Jaza presented analyses highlighting the diversity of experiences in responding to complex security crises. Their contributions examined the transition from purely military mechanisms toward broader and more comprehensive approaches to countering violent extremism, including the adoption of safe corridors for the protection of civilians and initiatives aimed at the rehabilitation of communities that had suffered under the influence of extremist groups, along with other related measures.
