The Center for Strategic and International Studies at the University of Baghdad, in collaboration with the Riwaq Baghdad Center for Public Policy, held a symposium entitled “Iraq’s Economy: From Centralization to Fragmentation.”
The symposium addressed a number of key themes, including the challenge of corruption in Iraq and the concept of “state capture,” presented by Dr. Hamed Raheem Janani; digital transformation in Iraq, discussed by Dr. Mohammed Ismat Al-Bayati; and an analysis of Iraq’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and developmental benchmarks, delivered by Dr. Salam Hamil Brigish.
The session was chaired by Dr. Sattar Jabbar Alai, a researcher and academic affiliated with the Center. The symposium featured a rich exchange of ideas, with engaging discussions and contributions from both speakers and participants.
The event drew a significant audience of researchers and academics from the Center for Strategic and International Studies, along with representatives from various research institutions, colleges, and universities—highlighting the growing interest in Iraq’s evolving economic landscape.
