As part of its ongoing efforts to address pressing geopolitical issues, the Center for Strategic and International Studies, under the direction of Dr. Adel Badiwi, hosted a workshop titled “The Geopolitical Significance of the Indo-Pacific Region.” The session was led by Assistant Lecturer Hareer Issam Mohammed and organized by the Center’s Crisis Management Department.

The workshop explored the growing strategic importance of the Indo-Pacific, highlighting its role as a key geopolitical arena amid global shifts in power dynamics. Particular emphasis was placed on the intensifying competition between major powers—especially the United States and China—whose strategic, security, and economic interests converge in the region.

The researcher underscored that the Indo-Pacific is not simply a broad geographic expanse, but a critical hub of global trade, increasingly at the center of international rivalries as states seek to expand their influence.

This event is part of a broader series of academic activities organized by the Center to analyze current geopolitical trends and their impact on the evolving international order.
