Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Bahaa Ibrahim Ensaf, President of the University of Baghdad the Center for Strategic and International Studies convened its second quarterly symposium, entitl “Iraq’s Role in the Development Road Project: Reality and Aspiration”, held at Al-Hurriya Hall in the College of Political Science.

Supervised by the Center’s Director, Assistant Professor Dr. Adel Abdul-Hamza Thjeel, the symposium examined the principal challenges and opportunities confronting Iraq within the framework of implementing the Development Road Project, which aspires to position the country as a central economic and logistical hub linking Asia and Europe.

The scientific sessions featured the presentation of over eighteen research papers by faculty members and researchers from the University of Baghdad and a number of research institutions. These contributions analyzed the geostrategic dimensions of the project, the role of Iraqi institutions in developing the nation’s infrastructure, and the economic, diplomatic, and political factors essential to ensuring the project’s success and the sustainability of its implementation.

In their concluding remarks, participants underscored the vital importance of coordination between governmental and academic efforts in advancing the Development Road Project as a strategic endeavor aimed at strengthening Iraq’s regional stature and achieving sustainable economic development.
