The Crisis Studies Department at the Center for Strategic and International Studies,  held a specialized workshop last Sunday entitled, “McCarthyism and the Construction of the Internal Enemy in the United States of America.” The workshop was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdul Wahed Abdul Nabi, a researcher at our Center.

The workshop shed light on the phenomenon of McCarthyism as one of the most prominent political developments witnessed in the United States during the early 1950s. The researcher explained how, during the Cold War period, McCarthyism evolved from a mere political orientation into a strategic instrument for amplifying fear of communism and constructing the concept of the internal enemy in order to destabilize political opponents and reshape the balance of power within American society.

This activity comes within the framework of advancing joint academic dialogue aimed at identifying strategic challenges and formulating scientific solutions that contribute to supporting and shaping public policy.
