The Department of Public Policy organized a specialized workshop that discussed the current state of Iraq’s electricity sector and the means required to overcome the continuing energy deficit through the activation of clean and renewable energy alternatives. The workshop was delivered by Lecturer Dr. Abdulrahman Tariq Atiyah.
The workshop highlighted the ongoing crisis facing Iraq in the supply of electrical energy, emphasizing that bridging the widening gap between growing demand and available supply requires nontraditional strategies. The researcher explained that total reliance on fossil fuel sources is no longer sufficient to meet the pressures generated by population growth and expanding industrial activity.
The workshop concluded by affirming that the transition toward green energy is not merely an environmental option, but an economic and security necessity to ensure the stability of Iraq’s energy sector during the coming decade.
