Chief Senior Translator Sameera Ibrahim Abdul Rahman, Head of the Translation Unit at our Center, participated in the specialized scientific seminar organized by Bayt al-Hikma / Department of Linguistic and Translation Studies, entitled, “The Role of the Translator in Formulating Awareness Discourse on the Dangers of Drugs Across Diverse Languages and Cultures.”
The seminar was held in Dr. Mahmoud Ali Al-Daoud Hall under the chairmanship of Professor Dr. Ali Al-Araji, and in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Bayt al-Hikma, Dr. Qahtan Nema Hassan Al-Khafaji, together with a distinguished group of academics and specialists.
The researcher contributed a significant paper entitled, “The Semiotics of Digital Encryption: Specialized and Machine Translation in Countering Drug Promotion via Social Media”.
The paper highlighted a number of contemporary and sensitive issues. The seminar also witnessed extensive interventions from attendees, who praised the importance of linking linguistic and translation studies with urgent security and societal issues. Participants emphasized that the role of the translator is no longer confined to conveying words, but has become that of an active partner in shaping public awareness and confronting negative cross-cultural phenomena.
This participation comes within the framework of the Center for Strategic and International Studies’ ongoing efforts to strengthen its academic presence in national scientific forums and to provide society with research and studies that address current challenges through modern scientific approaches.
