Under the patronage of the President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Baha Ibrahim Kazim Imran, and under the supervision of the Director of the Center for Strategic and International Studies – University of Baghdad, Assistant Professor Dr. Asaad Taresh Abdul Redha, the Center for Strategic and International Studies at the University of Baghdad held its quarterly scientific symposium entitled: “The Political and Security Dimensions of the Poverty Phenomenon”, which witnessed wide participation by researchers from inside and outside our center.
The symposium was chaired by Prof. Dr. Sattar Jabbar Alai, a researcher and academic at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, which included five main research papers and 18 sub-research papers presented by professors and researchers from inside and outside our center.
The first paper, presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sinan Salah Rashid, discussed the impact of the poverty phenomenon on the security aspect in Iraq.
As for the second paper, it was presented by Assistant Dr. Zaman Majid Awda and researcher Assistant Dr. Hiba Naseer Abdul Razzaq, which included a discussion of development projects to address the unemployment crisis in Iraq: policies and solutions.
The third paper was presented by researcher Dr. Abdul Rahman Tariq Attia, entitled “The Political and Security Dimensions of the Poverty Phenomenon”.
The fourth paper was presented by M.M. Duaa Munim Yassin, a researcher at our center, on the relationship between poverty and political stability.
The symposium concluded with the fifth paper presented by Dr. Khalaf Latif Ali, which included a discussion of the phenomenon of poverty in Iraq: solutions and treatments.
