“The Implications of Cyber Wars and the Employment of Smart Technology for International Peace and Security”

The Department of Strategic Studies at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies, University of Baghdad, will hold its upcoming scientific symposium entitled:

“The Implications of Cyber Wars and the Employment of Smart Technology for International Peace and Security”

The symposium will take place under the patronage of Dr Adel Abdul-Hamzah Thujail, Director of the Centre, on Monday, 12 May 2025, at 10:00 AM, in Al-Hurriya Hall.

 

Objectives of the Symposium:

  1. To identify major threats to critical infrastructure targeted by cyber warfare, which significantly destabilize global economic, political, and security frameworks.
  2. To redefine the concepts of national sovereignty and international security in the age of cyber warfare, where the inability to trace the source of attacks challenges conventional boundaries and poses risks more profound than traditional warfare.
  3. To enrich the scientific research landscape with the latest knowledge and technological developments utilized in cyber conflicts.
  4. To open avenues for collaboration and knowledge exchange among experts by disseminating their ideas and transforming them into practical outcomes that support national and international strategies for addressing cyber warfare.
  5. To monitor advancements in smart technologies, and determine how they may be harnessed to enhance sustainable global peace and security.
  6. To shed light on the international cyber arms race, including the integration of artificial intelligence in enhancing cyber defense capabilities.
