Dr. Ayman Ahmed Muhammad, a researcher at the Center for Strategic and International Studies at the University of Baghdad, participated in a scholarly seminar entitled “Pre-Election Media: Between Professional Compass and the Maze of Political Influence”, which was attended by the Minister of Culture, Ahmed Fakak Al-Badran, alongside several deputies and directors-general.
During the seminar, Dr. Ayman Ahmed offered a critical perspective, emphasizing that the primary challenge lies in balancing professional standards—grounded in accuracy and objectivity—with the pressures of both direct and indirect political influence. He stressed that meaningful reform of election-related media necessitates genuine political will to establish independent professional institutions.
The seminar also included contributions from researchers, academics, and media practitioners, who highlighted the pivotal role of the media in raising voter awareness and the imperative of upholding professional ethics throughout the forthcoming electoral process.
At the conclusion of the event, the Center’s Director, Dr. Ismail Suleiman, presented Dr. Ayman Ahmed with a formal letter of appreciation and a certificate of recognition, acknowledging his scholarly contribution and efforts to enrich the seminar’s discussions.
