Under the auspices of the Women’s Affairs Division at the University of Baghdad, the Center for Strategic and International Studies participated in a scientific workshop organized by the Center for Reviving Arab Scientific Heritage, entitled “Enhancing Women’s Role in Decision-Making.” The workshop saw broad participation from various academic departments and units across the university.

Assistant Professor Dr. Rana Mawlood Shaker, a faculty member at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, delivered a lecture emphasizing the importance of women’s participation in decision-making positions as a fundamental prerequisite for building an inclusive democracy.

Dr. Mawlood highlighted that advancing this role requires coordinated efforts between state institutions and civil society. She further called for the enactment of supportive legislation for women, the activation of the family’s role in fostering mutual trust and support, and the adoption of a positive media discourse that reinforces women’s image and status in society.

The workshop featured several scientific interventions and discussions focusing on mechanisms to empower women in political and social spheres. At the conclusion of the event, the organizing center expressed its appreciation to Dr. Rana M. Shaker for her scholarly contributions, wishing her continued success in her academic career and service to the university.
